HELLO FRIENDS! As you probably already know, Mirror is a CAUSER of PROBLEMS!! Want some personalized horror-trauma? Do monglings sound like a great way to spend the weekend? BOY HOWDY YOU CAME TO THE RIGHT PRETENDER GODDESS.

For those of you not familiar with Sabra, Mirror is a goddess-adjacent person whose powers mostly involved getting inside people's heads and using that info for TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE THINGS. While physical torment is definitely a thing she does, it allll comes from a mental base. So it's not just STAB STAB STAB, it's STAB YOU IN THE LEG BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE YOUR BOYFRIEND STABBED YOU WHEN YOU WERE TEN or something. She can do shapeshifting and bodyhorror too, though not on the same scale as her penalties in her D&Dified version Sabra due to lack of power. Mostly she can replace an eye or a hand with glass. FUN TIMES.

That being said, she's kind of a terror, so here are the rules I adhere to when doing bad things with her:

1) Everything must be 100% OOCly consentual. I am available over gmail (ishidaaaugh) as well as plurk (katoptron) or discord (rhokosigan) for all of your contacting needs! I'm also using this post to suss out details you want to discuss at ANY time when interacting with her. If any comment ever, ever makes you uncomfortable, please contact me so I can fix it. This applies even if it's ten or twenty comments later and you realize this is going somewhere you don't want it to go. All cool! I am here to give you fun things to play with, not stress you out. Her primary goal is to be a facilitator of chaos.

2) Be kind to your CR's comfort levels. If you're not sure if you're stepping on someone else's toes by getting your character horrormangled, please check in with them first. I have no way of knowing if someone's been maimed for the fifth time this week or the first time ever, so. Keep in contact and make sure I'm not going past any lines that your CR doesn't want crossed. I will also try to monitor but even in a small game there's a lot of people.

3) Feel free to give me guidance if you want something specific, ESPECIALLY if it's a bad outcome for your character. It's totally cool to drop a comment/message me all I WANT TERRIBLE BUT NOT SURE WHAT DO?? but if we're having a juicy thread and you specifically want a knife to the knee or a clean escape, let me konw. Or the opposite. If I am not hurting your character enough, by all means tell me. :3 :3 :3

4) Chat with me in this post about things!!! I am woefully unfamiliar with most canons at Sheep, so if there is a button you want me to hit, please tell me. Providing a list is also good. I won't necessarily get to everything in their first encounter but I can weave things in a bit at a time if I know what to build towards.

IN SHORT let's all have a good time together. MONGLINGS ARE NOT REQUIRED EITHER! We can have perfectly normal threads too. Or at least as normal as Mirror gets. She will probably never stop trying to be a Totally Malevolent Goddess Thing but that doesn't mean your character has to respond to it either. FULL permission given to call her out on her bullshit all of the time.

Being a semi-divine being, Mirror derives her powers by being surrounded by things that are part of her purview. Direct worship is strongest, though unwilling and unpleasant sacrifice is also way high up there on the powerometer. And in order to use her powers at all, she at LEAST needs access to a reflective surface of some kind. This can be as basic as a wet surface or as concentrated as an entire room with nothing but mirrored walls. She is at her strongest when she has quite a bit of influence over people (fear, truth, and duality being other power boosters) and has made up a little domain for herself; she is at her weakest when she’s spent her reserves and doesn’t even have her glass earrings or collar to boost her up.

LONG STORY SHORT she is going to be collecting the shit out of mirrors and building up her domain. Somewhere. Possibly in the Labryrinth. We’ll see what happens.

Mirror’s current power set is as follows:

• Touch Telepathy: Mirror can read thoughts and dig into someone’s psyche if she is touching them. The level she can reach depends on how much she's touching them (vague surface emotions if she’s just poking their arm with a finger, deep repressed memories if she has them in her domain and is actively drilling one of her glass claws into their skull). The actual amount of info gleaned is ENTIRELY up to the OOC comfort level of the player. It’s entirely possible for her powers to just randomly not work. With enough power and enough continuous proximity, she can go in and fuck with memories too.


• Spying Via Mirrored Surfaces: Wayyyyyy more limited than it was in Sabra, which was basically omniscient. Mirror can establish a link between two mirrored surfaces, allowing her to peer out of it if she exerts the power to do so. She can also make it alert her when something passes within its vision, but that takes more upkeep. Either way, it takes power to set up and power to use the link.


• Glass Claws: They come out of her fingernails. Requires some power to bring out, requires more power to replace if they’re broken (they need to grow back).


• Replacing Eyes With Glass: This takes a lot of power to do, so she’d better get a ton from the horror involved in forcing it on someone. Or worship.


• Patroning: This will primarily be done through the Court’s system, though she can layer on an additional level of master-servant-ness. When Mirror patrons someone, she spends a moderate amount of energy now in order to get a small but consistent amount every day. In return, she uses her powers to mark them and grant them a boon.


• Inhuman Body: While not technically super-strong or dextrous, Mirror’s body isn’t really mortal either. She’s tougher and faster than the average human, and it takes a lot more to kill her too. This doesn’t apply in power capped zones.


• Reflective Subspace: If a surface is reflective enough, she can enter it (for an appropriate expenditure of power). She can dive completely into the surface if it's large enough, like with a full length mirror or a large puddle. Breaking the reflection (or removing the light source) destroys the subspace, resulting in Mirror being yanked back abruptly into reality. It also takes a certain level of power and concentration to immerse herself in this subspace, so hitting her in a weak spot while she's under will also spit her back out. In theory, all reflective surfaces connect to all other reflective surfaces, but in reality, she can only use established connections or temporary ones in a limited space (no more than 20 feet or so).

ADDITIONAL POWERS

Stuff that I am adding as I go along! The intent is to make Mirror more interesting / maintain playability / that sort of thing. These powers will be used more sparingly as they involved large expenditures of power on Mirror's part.

• Glass Shaping: Like regrowing her nails, but more extensive. With enough glass on hand, Mirror can make pretty much any shape needed, including bodies, limbs, and masks. (She's shitty at making eyes, though, so any attempts will look pretty uncanny.) However, she still needs to spend time making the items, meaning she will need actual patience to get shit done. Which is going to be a pain for someone used to being a goddess. :'D In theory, this will eventually result in clones and disguises.


• Domain: Given enough reflective surfaces in a small enough area, Mirror can establish a "domain" for herself - a special area that amplifies her abilities and reduces her casting costs in general. Teleportation to this area is possible as long as she has a large enough reflective surface. Eventually she will claim a dead end in the Labryrinth as her own and set this up.
